Arts for Change for Arts Forum – British Council Myanmar
The ‘Arts for Change for Arts’ Forum convened the arts and cultural sector in Myanmar to connect, share, collaborate and reflect on role of the arts in shaping a shared future and supporting open, inclusive and stable societies. Through an inspiring programme, delegates shared ideas and best practice, networked and discussed the challenges and opportunities of working together to strengthen the sector and understand the value of and benefits arts and culture can bring for the sustainable development of Myanmar.
The shaping of the Forum was informed by a one-day consultation workshop organised on 28th March 2019 and meetings with the sector. This consultation was set up to understand better the cultural sector’s view on issues and topics related to the role of culture in sustainable development in Myanmar and to inform the British Council’s future work in Myanmar. It provided an opportunity for participants to learn from each other, reflect the contribution of culture to the Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs) and gave input to the content of the Forum.
Nicola Turner designed and co facilitated the Consultation and Forum, with the British Council Myanmar Arts Team.
